Area of operation II
Airspace practice questions
Which airspace you are standing under, and what it costs you to fly there.
About the chart figures. They are simplified excerpts drawn for this site, not FAA charts. They use the symbology the FAA’s Aeronautical Chart Users’ Guide defines — the same colours and line styles, cited under every answer — so that the reading skill transfers. A real sectional carries far more on the same square inch, and it is worth opening one before test day.
On the simplified sectional excerpt, what class of airspace is point A in at 300 feet AGL?
What this area asks
Two questions, over and over, in different clothes: what class of airspace is this, and do I need authorization to fly in it. The classes have shapes and dimensions you can learn in an afternoon; the part that takes longer is reading them off a sectional chart, where the answer is carried by the colour and the style of a line rather than by a label. This area also holds the flight hazards — wires, towers, thermal plumes, unmanned balloons — which are pure recall.
The tasks the FAA lists under II
This is the specification the real test is written to. Every question above carries the code of the element it tests, and a real Airman Knowledge Test Report gives you those codes back for the ones you get wrong.

Frequently asked
- How many airspace questions are on the Part 107 test?
- The FAA publishes a band rather than a fixed count: Appendix 1 of the Airman Certification Standards gives Airspace Classification and Operating Requirements 15–25% of the test. On a 60-question test that is roughly 9 to 15 questions; the full-length mock on this site deals 12.
- Is this set timed?
- Not on this page. These sets are for learning the area — each answer comes with an explanation, the ACS code and the document the fact came from. The full-length mock runs the real clock: 60 questions in 120 minutes.
- Are these real questions from the FAA test?
- No. The FAA’s item bank is confidential and nobody outside the agency has it. Every question here is original, written to the published format — three options, one correct response — and every one carries the ACS element it tests and the document its facts came from.

- FAA Aeronautical Information Services — Aeronautical Chart Users’ Guide Read August 27, 2026· Edition effective 9 July 2026 The authority for chart symbology, and the document the Remote Pilot Study Guide points at rather than reproducing. ⚠️ Added 2026-08-27 after an audit found two questions on this site sourced to the study guide for chart colours the study guide never states — the facts were right, the citation was not. Everything this site says about what a line or a colour MEANS on a sectional now comes from here.
- 14 CFR part 107 — Small Unmanned Aircraft Systems (eCFR) Read August 27, 2026· eCFR reports title 14 up to date as of 2026-08-25 The regulation itself, and the only acceptable source on this site for an operating limit, a category, an eligibility rule or a recency rule. Amendment 107-8 (86 FR 4381, 15 January 2021) is the one that rewrote night operations and added operations over human beings.
- FAA-G-8082-22 — Remote Pilot – Small Unmanned Aircraft Systems Study Guide Read August 27, 2026· August 2016 — predates Amendment 107-8 ⚠️ USE FOR SUBJECT MATTER, NEVER FOR A RULE. Airspace classes, METAR and TAF decoding, density altitude, load factor, physiology, radio procedure and airport data are unchanged and are sourced here. Its regulations chapter, its night rules and its silence on operations over people are all out of date, and a question sourced here on any of those is a bug.
- FAA-S-ACS-10B — Remote Pilot – Small Unmanned Aircraft Systems Airman Certification Standards Read August 27, 2026· Material in FAA-S-ACS-10B is effective April 6, 2021 The shape of the test and the ACS codes. Appendix 1 publishes the 60-question length, the two-hour limit, the 70% passing score and the share of the test each area of operation gets. Appendix 3 publishes that a passing test report is valid for 24 calendar months.
Part 107 Drills is independent practice material. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or authorized by the Federal Aviation Administration, PSI Services LLC, or any knowledge testing centre. Every question here is original and none is taken from any actual FAA knowledge test. Regulatory text and FAA publications are works of the United States Government and are in the public domain; where this site states a rule, it cites the section it came from and the date that section was read.
